Nina Totenberg: Taken Out Of Context?
Much has been made of NPR's Nina Totenberg's comment on "Inside Washington" this weekend, in which it was claimed she had said:
“I was at – forgive the expression – a Christmas party..."
Of course, we on the Right are having a ball with that - begging forgiveness for not using the bland, flaccid PC expression "Holiday gathering" is somewhere between pathetic and psychotic, and explains why Juan Williams could get canned for merely appearing with a FOX logo near his profile...
But let's look at the entirety of Nina T's remarks:
Well, these agencies, including the Defense Department, don't know how much money they've got and for what. And I was at – forgive the expression – a Christmas party at the Department of Justice and people actually were really worried about this.
My take? She's not asking us to forgive the expression "Christmas party", she's asking us to forgive the expression "Department of Justice"!
And guess what? Nina Totenberg is right! Under Barack Obama and his best bud Eric Holder, The DOJ has become racialized, radicalized, and politicized in a way that would have the Left and the media vomiting out of its collective eyeballs in horror had it happened in a Republican administration. The DOJ is now perhaps the most radical arm of the Obama administration, gleefully taking the blindfold off of Lady Justice, and raping her repeatedly until she is beaten down enough to finally twist the law in a way that satisfies the socialist dogma of the Democratic Party.
No wonder Nina asks for our forgiveness when using the phrase "Department of Justice"; the phrase carries no more meaning under the Obama administration than it does under the auspices of many a totalitarian state, who oft use the same phrase - and methods - to get the kind of "justice" their ideology demands.
So give Nina Totenberg a break. Rare to see such a solemn truth uttered so eloquently by a reporter under the NPR imprinter...
UPDATE: Nina T confirms our version of the story:
"I think that's kind of silly because it's obviously a Christmas party," she told us. "I was tweaking the Department of Justice. It was a touch of irony at the expense of the Justice department, not at the expense of Christmas."
