Fall at Vintage Village

Finally got back to Vintage Village to check out the fall booths. Always full of nifty things, I knew I couldn't just window shop...treasure would be found and purchased.

This both had a marvelous avocado theme.  Don't you love the large framed photo of the lovely older woman?

White elements are always a favorite.

How about this fantastic antique hoop skirt crinoline?  Had to have it so it came home with me.  I adore antique clothing and finding pieces like this are a joy.

Lovely florals for your fall decor.

American Primitives are among my favorite.  This favorite dealer of mine always has such fantastic pieces.

So many wonderful things to choose from.

Wonderful tapestry fabric on this pretty little settee.

Love this display of Halloween items.

Pretty little Victorian parlor table.  Perfect for a huge Boston fern.

More wonderful treasure at Vintage Village.  Always a great place to shop.

Pretty hats, a piano baby, needlepoint and a sweet black table.

Now for more goodies that I found at Vintage Village.  Had to have them.  A wonderful CDV photo, pretty little quad plate clothing brush and a marvelous sterling handled Victorian shoe horn.

A terrific mid-Victorian print, bubble glass and deep frame.  I am a sucker for old pieces like this.
The print is in terrific condition, colors are true.

Tomorrow I will post on other items I found at a little shop called Joy's Vintage Flea.  She will be moving into Vintage Village this week.  She has marvelous kitschy pieces and I can't wait to see her new space.  Have a wonderful Monday everyone.  Sea Witch

Why oh why can't it be

a five day weekend and a two day work week?  Really, Why can't it!!!!  So many things to do and I know you are all just as busy with graduations, school year ending, preparing for the summer, etc. etc etc.

So after the tree that fell was finally removed from my front yard, chipped and hauled away, I made a road trip to Snellville and stopped in at Vintage Village to say hello to friends and dealers. There was also an additional shop that recently opened behind the "Village" ... "Joy's Vintage Thrift".   Love it when there is another place to find treasure.

One of the personal touches you find at Vintage Village at this time of the year are fresh flowers throughout.

This lovely bouquet of hydrangea's (a personal favorite) greets you as you enter the shop.

One of my favorite dealers, My Vintage Heart.  I keep eyeing the pretty silver plated Art Nouveau flower vase every time I see it.  I need to just bite the bullet and buy it as it would look lovely with my footed bowl that looks just like it.

How fun and summery this bright orange water can is.

Speaking of summer, this vintage soft cooler is perfect for Americana holidays, especially when fireworks are involved.

Another favorite dealer, Fox, always finds the coolest stuff.  This neat Victorian fold up chair has been over painted with aqua blue and sports a cabbage roses seat.  The best part, this nifty piece is only $45.00.  I had to force myself to walk away from purchasing it as I just don't have the room in my home.  But what a great piece.

Pressed and hammered aluminum pieces.  The American staple found in homes throughout the 1950s. Still affordable, these are fast becoming the next hot collectible.

How pretty is this vintage cake topper displayed under this glass dome.

Pretty jars have been repurposed with a little wire and a floral spray for lots of decorating ideas.  Use them for starting flowers, seedlings, or fill with sugar water for hummingbirds.

Clever is as clever does.  Pretty summer flowers bloom around a bicycle wheel wreath.

Love this shade of aqua, especially during the summer.

A new dealer at VV and I am crazy about the large letters that are for sale.

Eat Cake...words to live by...unless you are Marie Antoinette.

I don't know what it is about a big pair of panties that reduces me to childish giggles...maybe it is Ethel Merman's fault.  As a child, I remember her singing, "The Hostess with the Mostest" and a line from that song was "Don't leave your panties in the hall."   My baby sister and I would laugh till it hurt over that.  There is just something funny about panties.

Made  a lot of wonderful purchases and was so busy over the weekend that I forgot to take pictures of them.  Loaded up my vehicle and then took a short stroll to Joy's Vintage Thrift.   If you are looking for American kitsch, old time candies and a cold soda from a vintage fridge, then Joy's is the place to go.  Prices are great for both the collector and for the dealer looking for inventory.
These four chair, sturdy, well made and in excellent condition were $35.00 for all four.

A quick coat of white paint and a pretty fabric change on the pads and you have a new set of dining room chairs on the cheap.

Old fashioned cash register greets you as you walk in.

Joy is a delightful young woman who at 21 has opened her first shop.  I love to see young people enter this field, there is such joy in it (no pun intended).

The fridge full of cold soda's.  Saw YooHoo and had to buy a bottle.  My childhood was calling.

Joy has filled vintage frames with pics of 1950-60s television heroes and stars.  How fun.

Shelves are also filled with penny candy of my childhood.  When my raviolis come to visit, I must take them here to pic out a cold soda and a penny candy treat from her pretty jars of treats.

And finally a shot of my booth.  Brought in more items and filled both the booth and the case as rhinestone jewelry seems to be moving again.  My favorite piece in my booth right now is the small, aqua blue ladies trash disposal can.  Today's young gals probably don't now what it is, but if you grew up in the 1950-60 and a little of the 1970's, you would find this item nestled between two stalls in school and public restrooms for you to dispose of your personal hygiene items.  How fun would it be to put this in a bathroom and fill with your hygiene products.  Have a lovely Monday.  Sea Witch

Pretty Easter Things at Vintage Village

Italy was wonderful as always, but the real joy was visiting my Italian raviolis.  They are all doing well and will be moving back to the states in about 6 weeks.  Daddy will also be back from downrange and the family will be complete again.  Can't wait to visit them in New York after they have settled into new digs.  Got caught up on a lot of chores and tasks this weekend and one of my top things to do was swing by Vintage Village to do a little shopping and indulge in some shameless gossip (the good kind) with dealer friends.  As many of you know, Vintage Village is one of my favorite shops for buying and now, "one vintage hag" has also launched a Vintage Village blog.    What a marvelous way to network, those hags are so clever.  Of course, I found some wonderful things for myself such as a fabulous antique, black prairie bonnet from the 1880s.  Wonderful condition and very wearable...this is going in my personal collection.  A terrific Edwardian wall hat rack and coat rack with tiny mirror in the center and a lovely, little silver plate footed candy dish that I will use to display vintage mercury ornaments.  Vintage Village is known for its seasonal decorating and delightful items and spring is one of their favorite seasons.  Lots of sweet Easter pieces, pretty shabby cottage items and of course, some of the best gardening decor you could want.  I snapped a few pics to share.

I am crazy about this wonderful Victorian lamp.

How delightful is this huge, foiled vintage egg?
Love the cabbage roses and the pretty pair of boudoir lamps.

How much fun would it be to set them all ten minutes apart from the time you need to get up?  These alarm clocks are terrific.

Sweet traveling tea set...perfect for an Alice In Wonderland tailgate tea party.

I'm trying to talk myself into why I "need this" Victorian quad plate chocolate pot.

Sweet little peeps and glitter spring eggs.

So many pretty things, it is hard to choose just one item.

I adore vintage birdcages as decorative lighting.  I will fill them with tiny, white lights and fresh cut flowers and hang them around my patio or deck.

Wonderful selection of antique yellow ware and a pretty transfer lidded container.

There is nothing like waking up in a garden of roses and these vintage sheets and pillow shams make a lovely bedroom garden.

So many pretty spring things, so little space.

How fantastic is this 48 inch in length "at the beach" painting?  Makes me want to run away to the sea right now.  She has a give away price on it too.

Now, I wanted to share one of the items I found at another stop...this delightful vintage "Little Cutie Pie" cookie jar.  She was filthy and has two small chips along the lid from too many hands lifting it open to access home made cookies.  I paid $13.00 for her and figured after cleaning her up I could list her at about $40.00 as vintage cookie jars are always good sellers for me.  Imagine my surprise when I found her book value to be at $455.00 in pristine condition.  A little more research and she is one of the most sought after next to Little Red Riding Hood.  Other then those two small flakes, she is in lovely condition and the freckles across her nose are so cute.  I have her listed in my booth for $300.00 as these seem to sell well and close to book value even with minor damage.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend as well.  Glad to be back and in the thick of things again and I look forward to checking out everyone's blogs and catching up on all of the news.  Actually, I just remembered, I have a question for those who have etsy shops.  I noticed that "public domain" downloads for vintage patterns are offered on etsy.  Is there anyone who can tell me if you are selling these downloads made from public domain patterns?   I came across a huge assortment of public domain crochet and tatted booklets and I was thinking of doing the same.  Don't want to spend a lot of time scanning and compiling these for download if they move slowly or not at all.  As always, I appreciate your input.  Blessings and warm spring nights to everyone.  Sea Witch
